Raising Awareness for Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is a malignant tumor that forms in the prostate gland of the male reproductive system.

It is one of the most common types of cancer diagnosed in American men, over the age of 50

More than 200,000 new cases are diagnosed each year in the United States

The overall 5-year survival rates for all stages of prostate cancer have recently increased from 69% to nearly 100%

Theoretically, all men are at risk for developing prostate cancer. The likelihood of getting this form of cancer increases with age, with 50 years as a good time to get screened. For African American men, or those genetically predisposed to the cancer, screening should begin at age 45, or earlier, depending on the circumstances.

In his fight to turn prostate cancer from a life threatening disease into a hopeful treatment and recovery, Dr. Samadi teams up with other important public figures. His message should come across as many channels as possible, to stop people from dying of this curable disease.

Dr. Samadi urges all women to take the Samadi Challenge to get the men in their lives to commit to screening and prevention.

–  Learn the risk factors of common diseases in men

–  Improve the lifestyles of the men in their lives

–  Encourage men to get screened annually

–  Seek treatment in case of a positive diagnosis
